NO TURKISH DANGER YET. | Cairo, December 29. There is no development in the situa- ! tion on the eastern frontier. A few parties of Turks and Bedouins continue to wander aimlessly in the eastern half of the Sinai Peninsula, but the longdistance British outposts report that the alleged Turkish railway into the Sinai Peninsula is a sheer invention. The Senussi are friendly to Egypt. Melbourne, December 30. The Defence Department has been advised from Cairo that General Birdwood's command will be called, for tinpresent, the Australian-New Zealand Army Corps. Petrograd, December 29. A communique states: "We crossed the Lauraing River in the direction of Olti, north-east of Erzerum, and checked large forces. We also occupied the Khamour-Aganitz line, south-east of Erzerurn. The Turks retired with heavy* losses and many were taken prisoners. ESSAD PASHA ACTIVE. London, December 29. Albanian advices state that Essad Pa6ha has gathered 9000 troops and marched aorainst" the Albanian rebels, intending to engage them in a decisive battle.
