The programme of races is one that has attracted good acceptances, and is sure 1 to provide some keen and exciting contests. Apart from the racing, the .grounds are themselves well worth a visit, and the public will lind that tins club has in every way studied the convenience and comfort of patrons, while the intervals are pleasantly occupied by popular music. Given fine weather, visitors to the races may rely 011 having a most pleasant day, and possibly a prolit- . able one, but the latter has just that element of risk that lends additional j charm to the excitement. CRICKET. Lovers of the good old English game of cricket will have an opportunity 011 Christmas Day of witnessing a match at the Recreation Grounds between the /Thursday and Saturday players. It is at 'all times a great pleasure to spend a few hours at the Recreation Grounds, and a good cricket match enhances that pleasure. To the numerous visitors to the town these grounds form a great attraction, and the wonder is that they are not more patronised locally than is the case. THE SEA BEACH. On Saturday (Boxing Day) the West End Foreshore Committee have ar. ranged a festival of revelry 011 the West End beach, with races and games foi children, afternoon tea (hot water, tea. milk, and sugar free), competitions, ami all sorts of amusements for folks of al. ages.
