Subject to necessary alterations, mails will close at the chief Post Office as under: — SATURDAY, DECEMBER 20. For Australian States, South Africa, China, and Straits Settlements, via Auckland, at 0.15 a.m. MONDAY, DECEMBER 28. For United Kingdom, Continent of Europe, West Indies, Central America, British, French and Dutch Guiana, Venezuela, Ecuador, U.S. Columbia, United States of America and Canada, via Vancouver; also Honolulu, Japan, and Fiji, at o.li> а.m. Due London January 28. For Tonga and Samoa, via Auckland, aJ б.15 a m. For Wellington and South, daily, at 6.15 a.m. and 12.20 p.m. For Auckland and North, per steamer, Tuesday and Wednesday, at 7 p.m., daily, per train, at 6.15 a.m. For.Wanganui and intermediate offices, "daily, at 0.15 a.m., 12.20 and 3.55 p.m. The times fcr closing mails for places beyond the Dominion are liable to alteration (earlier or later). CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR - HOLIDAYS. POST AND TELEGRAPH DEPARTMENT. Xostal Branch. —Friday, December '25, and January 1 (Christmas Day and New Year's Day), will be observed as close holidays. On Saturday, December 20 (Boxing Day), the Post Office will be open in all branches, except Money-Order and Sayingj Bank, from 0 a.m. to 10 a.m. Telegraph Office. —The Telegraph Office will be open on Friday, the 25th inst. (Christmas Day), from 0.30 a.m. to 10 a.m., and from 5 to 5.30 p.m. On Saturday (Boxing Day and Friday New Year's Day), the hours will he from 0 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Telephone Exchange.—The Telephone Exchange will remain open continuously. Private-Box Lobby.—Sunday hours will be observed on December 25th and January Ist; usual hours on December 20. Mails. —Mails usually despatched on Friday will be closed on Thursday nights, the 24th and 31st inst., at, S p.m. On the 20th mst (Boxing Day), the usual despatch of mails up to 8 a.m., will be made, the re-c-ivers and posting boxes will be cleared accordingly. The Travelling Post O(lice will run as usual. Counter Delivery.—Deliveries of town letters (ordinary and registered), will be made on the Thursday nights, the 24th and 31st inst., from 8 to 9 p.m. Letter-carriers' Deliveries. —One comp.' delivery by letter-carriers will r,e made on the 2fith ; nst., commencing at 7.30 a.m. (There will by none on either Christmas Day New Yfat's
