The deceased gentleman had a distinguished career (says the Sussex Daily! Xe\ys). lie was the son of Dr Dugald MeKellar, ami was born at Battersca.,' Educated at Chrphain Grammar fikdiool and University Collego, London, he tub-' set|iientlv became a member of the Royal! ■ College of Surgeons. He, was appointed assistant snurgeon in the Gon. East India' Company's service, previous to the' transfer to the Crown. He served in all twenty-six years in India, was in no' fewer than sixteen engagements, ssrv-! i"B throughout Vhe jliurmcsn War in ] B.j2r,;i, with ller Majesty's, 30th Foot, and was present at the. cap- 1 turc of Rangoon, Martaban and Pegu j and received medal and clasp for the vampaign.
