EGMONT NATIONAL PARK.
MEETING OF THE HOARD. A meeting of the Egmont National ' Park Board was held at Stratford yesterday, when <thcre were preaent: Mr G. K. Builard (chairman) R. McK. Morrison, R. Dingle, Willcox, Collis, 'Rogers. In regard to the question of dangerous shafts left ill the vicinity of the Stratford House, by the Public Works Department during tkeir prospecting for metal, it was decided tluit Messrs Dingle and Morison should inspect and report _at the noxt meeting. Tlie chairman reported that he had issued several permits to shoot cattle in the Reserve since the last meeting. ' It was decided that in the event of reports of trespassing cattle in the Ret serve from any particular locality, the | matter be left in the hands of the ■ chairman and the member residing near- \ est to th<j locality affected. In regard to the road running right 'round the radius line a request was received from settlers abutting for Tiermission to fell trees on the line where they interfered with their fencing.—-The Board decided that, not being the con--1 trolling board, it was not for them to give permission, hut would raise no objection to any controlling local body dealing with the matter. The question of repairs to the track over the Mangonui Gorge wag left to the Stratford committee to deal with. It was decided that 'the usual £2OO Government grant, if available this year, be allocated as follows—North, Soutn', and East Committees, £OO each* West Committee, £2O, this latter sum being granted on condition that the Road Board contribute an equal amount for spending on the road outside the Reserve.
