LAWN TENNIS.

WEST END P.BACH CLUB. There were nearly fifty present last night at the meeting held at the West End Bungalow for the purpose of the laying down of tennis courts in Kawaroa Park. Mr. G. Tabor (president of the West End Foreshore Improvement Society, the controlling authority of the park) presided, and briefly introduced the matter, stating that a good site existed for tennis courts in the hollow behind the Municipal Baths. An esti. , mate of the cost had been prepared, and, apart from the levelling of the ground—which, it was hoped, could be done by voluntary labor—the material and labor would cost about £SO. Apart from this, there would be fencing, some material, and probably about £IOO would be re- , quired altogether. About forty names were handed in as I intending members, and it was stated that there were prospects of a large membership. In answer to a question, it was explained that the club would not be given sole right to the courts, which, it was hoped, would be available for the public. Subsequently at a large meeting of j the society, a resolution was carried, without dissent, undertaking to do all I in the power of members to facilitate the inception of the club, which it was felt I would do much to popularise the park.
