South Taranaki, was concluded to-day in fine, but windy weather. Taranaki were disposed of for 148, and, following on, made 152, thus suffering defeat by an Minings and 08 runs. At 10.25 a.m., the two not out men, Stapylton and Penny, went to the wieketH. Staplyton scored ten oil' the first over from Holland, but play then quietened down. Douglas Haynes and Cantelin scored a fourer apiece, and a brace of byes brought the total to 148. Being 250 behind, Taranaki followed on. Penny and Cantelin faced Holland and Bernau. Penny hit Holland's first to the fence, and next over treated Bernau likewise. With the second last ball of the over Bernau caught and bowled Cantelin.—l2—l—o. Penfold and Lynskey went for the bowling, both pulling everything to leg, and were not separated until Holland got Penfold at middle wicket, and the score read—l3(l—H—lß.
