AUSTRALIA'S ASSISTANCE IN THM WAR. Melbourne, December 17. In the Senate, during a debate on Australia's ])art in the war, Mr .'.Milieu stated that 30,000 men had already enlisted. The estimates provide for 42,000 men in tills financial year. Aur.-alia should go at full speed right through and assist recruiting by advertising. In the House Mr Cook maintained that Australia was i,oi doing .enough compared with Canada. Mr Fisher said Australia had done, ashore and afloat, more than any other Dominion. Sydney, December 17. Chinese residents of Cairns telegraphed to the Chinese Consul, expressing entire loyalty to the British Government and urged that bis utmost iniluenee should be used in the Chinese Parliament against any relationship with Germany.
