INGLEWOOD NEWS.
The result of the elections docs not appear to be very satisfactory to the supporters of either political party, but the excitement has now died down, and Inglewood has once more assumed' its normal conditions.
General sympathy is expressed with Mr and Mrs Alfred Taylor in the sad loss of their youngest son. It is again clearly demonstrated how dangerous the pea rifle is as a toy for boys, Another batch of local boys left this week for the training camp at Trcnlliam.
Mr Stewart Huston again placed his large billiard room at the disposal of everyone who wished to come along and bid farewell to our heroes. Short speeches were made by his Worship the Mayor, and by Messrs T. E. Ilammerton and F. Spurdle, who tendered the boys a bit of good advice. The names of the boys who left and hailed from the Inglewood district were:—G. Miles; 'R. Bishell, Gellice W. Mather, J. Middlemas, S. Oakshot, G. Nicholls, R. Nieholls, W. Uncles, and 11. Schwieters. It seems a pity there is not more interest and public spirit shown in farewelling our boys on such an important mission. But some people's loyalty and patriotic spirit extends no further' than the wearing of a red, white, and blue rosette, or the hanging out of a flag. Mr Boldock, the iKaimata creamery manager, is at present on the sick list, and is likely to be incapacitated for some time. " This is unfortunate for the staff of the Moa Dairy Co., as a good man is very hard to replace at this time of the vear.' Mr R. T. Williams had the misfortune to have his gig smashed by the horse taking fright, and capsizing' the vehicle at the local factory.
Our local champion equine has departed for the Northern city, where he will compete for the 2000 odd golden sovereigns with some of the crack stock of the country. Let's hope that it comes his wnv.
