MEETING OF DIRECTORS. A meeting of directcro of the New Zealand Axemen's Association was held at -Ei'-.iliflni last night, when detail arrangements were perfected for the Axemen's Carnival on Boxing Day, and following Monday. It was decided to disqualify for life Leu. Mutton for 1 competing in a maiden event at Taumarunui on October 22nd 'last. It was stated that the handicapper 'had warned both the competitor and thi! sports organisation that he'was ineligible to compete. A letter was received from the Plumb Axe Company, offering a gold medal for presentation to the winner of the Axc- ' men's Cup event, two saws for .the winners of the Double-handed Sawing Competition, and one saw for the winner of the Single-handed Sawing Championship. The secretary reported thati practically all the .space set aside for side shows hail been taken up, and several of them were already on the ground. • The Ground Committee reported with .reference to improvements to the track and necessary attention to the ring and grandstand. Telegraphic advice was received th/iit two truck loads of blocks had left Rangaliaua that morning for Eltham. Fivn entrie.3 for the £37 tug-of-war contest were, reported to be in.
