Nurse Butler, of Wellington, lias been appointed district nurse for the MokauAwakino district. .'in Adelaide cablegram reports that Mr. Reginald Kyffin Thomas, one of the proprietors of the newspaper, the Register, succumbed to the effects of a motor accident. At the meeting of the Hospital Board yesterday, Nurse K. Barnitt forwarded her resignation as senior sister of the hospital after 7$ years' senvce there. In accepting her resignation, members of the Board made appreciative reference to the good work she had done at the institution. It is understood that Nurse Barnitt is anxious to go to the front, -r,,i ••■ iiiiis. At the close of the choir practice in the Inglewood Methodist Church on Friday evening last, the choir took the opi>ortunity of presenting Mr aiid Mrs L. Sutherland with a neat honey jar on silver stand. The ißev. J. 'Featiherston, who made the presentation, spoke in very complimentary tones of long and 'valued assistance rendered to the choir by the newly-married couple, and wished them all possible prosperity in their larger life. Mr Sunderland suitably re'plied. At the 'meeting of the Stratford County Council yesterday, on the motion of Cr. Smith, seconded by the chairman, it was resolved to convey to Mr C. S. Kelly, for some years on tile sporting stall' of the Stratford Post, and who has now joined the Expeditionary Force, 'an expression of tho Council's high appreciation of the motives which prompted him to volunteer for active service, with best wishes for his welfare and a sincere hope for his safe return.
