MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

A DISPUTED CLAIM. At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Mr A. Crooke, S.M., the ease of Joh'i Ptnwarden (Mr C. H. Weston), v. John Skinner (Mr F. E. Wilson) occupied the Court for several hours. The claim was for £43 lis i)d in respect of work done by the plaintiff for defendant in connection with some buildings at Pukenruhe. The defence was:—(l) That, the contract for the work was made with plaintiff's son and not with the plaintiff, and (2) that the charges were excessive.

Evidence in support of the claim was given by plaintiff, his son, Mr Mannix, and Mr F. Coleman. ' For the defence, Mr Wilson called defendant, Mr A. Boon, and Mr L. Rattenburg. His Worship, after hearing counsel, gave judgment for the plaintiff for JCHS and costs.
