ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A CHILD ELECTROCUTED Dunedin, yesterday. 3 Yesterday afternoon, Martin Lyons , 9, who was playing with two „ other* children on reclaimed ground on . the north side of the cement works, picked up a live wire, and was instantly electrocuted. One of his companions, who pulled the wire away from him, . must have had a most remarkable escape . from a similar death. It is not known . at present how the live wire came to be L on the ground at that place. • KILLED BY A KICK--1 _ Dunedin, DefieihW $4. An inquest was held at Clarendoil regarding the death of Wm. George Miller, single, aged 00. On Wednesday, he yoked up three horses to a roller, and departed to work. As he did not return at lunch time, his employer instituted a search, - and found deceased with the left side of his skull crushed in. He had presumably received a kick from a horsa. Evidence was given that the animal wa« commonly regarded as a kicker and dan- ; gerous to work. A veraici of accidental ; death was, returned, with a rider that the animal which caused the death should be destroyed. RUN OVER, BY HARROWS. Gore, December 14. William Bloomfield, aged 17, whose parents are living at Kensington, was accidentally killed on Friday evening at Pyramid. He was returning home with a team of horss attached to some disc harrows, and was found on the road. He had evidently fallen under the discs and the back of his head was terribly bruised. He died an hour later. SUDDEN DEATH. Carterton, December 14. An old man, John M'Leod, aged GO, ~ dropped dead at Te Wharau yesterday. He was employed as a shepherd by Mr 5 M'Gregor, Hikorangi, and had been mcd-- * ically attended for heart trouble. "
