General Botha's drive resulted in the capture or surrender of 820 rebels. * i Berlin, December 8. ■An official wireless message states that Germany does not intend permanently to occupy the South African Union, but desires hostilities to cease if the Union evacuates German territory and abstains from.further hostilities. The message adds that the South Africans may establish a neutral state of -which Germany will recognise the independence and territorial integrity.
