FIRES.

DESTRUCTION NEAR TIMAFOJ. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. Strathallan homestead, near Fairlic, was destroyed by fire this morning. The fire was started by sparks from the burning or trees uprooted by the recent gale. Some furniture was saved. A shearing shed belonging to Mr. Boach, at Orari, was burned early this morning, with shearing machine's, engine, 200 sheep, and five bales of wool. A fierce gale was blowing. The fl'ro was probably caused by a spark from the engine boiler.
