DURATION OF THE WAR.
DURATION OF THE WAR. 1 EARL KITCHENER'S VIEWS. GERMANS EXECUTIONERS, NOT SOLDIERS. Received 5,1 a.m. New York, December 4. Mr Irwin Cobb, a press correspondent, states that he recently interviewed Earl Kitchener. The latter considered it would probably require a triennium to defeat the Germans. "We are prepared, and determined to continue until victory is won. The war will only end when Germany is defeated on land and sea. The German campaign in the west has already failed, which will be more pronounced as time passes. When an invading army ceases to invade it merely wastes its strength, especially when, like the Germans, it has passed from its maximum strength of efficiency." Earl Kitchener added that the soldier who judges the behaviour of the civil population and inflicts punishment ceases to be a soldier and Incomes an executioner.
