A train load of clothing for the Belj gians was dispatched from Auckland today to be shipped at Wellington for London. A large number of people witnessed the departure of the train. Speeches of commendation were delivered by the Premier and Sir Joseph Ward. The train of fourteen carriages and ft 120-ton engine was profusely decorated with national flags. Mr Burns, Belgian Consul, stated that 637 cases of clothing were being sent away to-day, and 101 more cases were to follow. At the very lowcßt the value of the clothing was £20,000, THE FIJI CONTINGENT. Wellington, December 3. The Government of Fiji recently offered a European contingent of volunteers to the Imperial Government for service in Europe." The Imperial Government replied that it would be very pleased to accept it and that the most suitable method of making use of the force would be to have it included in the New Zealand contingent. At the request of the Imperial authorities tho New Zealand Government has now accepted the Fijinn volunteers for inclusion in the reinforcements drafts for tie ! front. Fiji is bearing the cost. It is hoped that the Fijian contingent will arrive in time to accompany the third reinforcements. They will undergo preliminary instruction at Trentham camp. ■ BELGIAN RELIEF FUND.
