SUPREME COURT.
INVEKCAKGILL SESSIONS. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Invercirgill, Last Night. The Supreme Court opened to-day, before Mr Justice Sim. Henry Morrison v/a-.i charged (1) with discharging a revolver with intent to do grievous bodily harm to Francis Adolphus Hugh Hughes; (-) with assaulting the snme man, and causing him actual . bodily harm. Accused was found guilty on tho second count, with a recommendation to jiva-y, was fined .ti>i) v aad ordered to be imprisoned until file amount was paid, but not for more than three months. The accused was sixty-three years of age. liobu Cane, charged with discharging firearms to intimidate, was found not guilty-. ' 'William Henry Laythan, a Singer >:!ewiiig Machine (Jo., employee, pleaded guilty to misappropriation of .€l3 and Mas sentenced to hard labour for twelve months.
In the. ease of Thomas Stone, charged with threatening with intent to extort j.'ioney, accused failed to appear when called. Accused's counsel produced ;i leiter, in which accused said he had gone to the war as motor transport driver.
The Crown Prosecutor: "He has been fined l'our or five times for furious driving. If lie does that at the war he vi!! probably get a medal." Bail of £IOO in accused's own security, and £IOO in his brother's security was estreated.
