ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
THREE MEN DROWTSIED. Napier, November 28. Whilst the Kaihu was engaged in lightering wool at, Te Awaite this morning a surfboat capsized and three men named Leers (mate), Paterson and O'Brien (seamen) were drowned. AH belonged to Wellington. A lifeboat left the steamer when the accident took place, but only rescued one man. The sea rose rapidly and the lifuboatj was unable to return to the ship. The Ripple has been ordered to the scene from Akttio. No further details are to hand.
PEA-RIFLE FATALITY. Blenheim, November 28. William Chandler, aged 25, was getting till-rough a fence at Renwickfown 3witih a pea-rifle, wliich was accidentlv discharged. The bullet entered his temple and death was instantaneous. He leaves a wife and three children.
