At the wool sales the absence of Japanese competition was keenly felt. The best crossbreds made late rates. Medium merinos were easier; faulty, no demand; greasy sold to 12<4d; scoured, 19% d. MATTHEWS, GAMLIN AND CO. Matthews, Gamlin and Co. had a good yarding of cattle last Wednesday, at their Inglowood yards, store and forward cows were well competed for, and the whole of the entry, with the exception of two pens of cows, were sold at the hammer at the following prices: 'ing heifers, £4 to £6 15s; cows £5 to £7 ss; store cows, small and light, £3 15s to £4 Ids; others, £5 15s to '£6 18s; fat do, £8 to £9 15s; vearlinf steers, £3 3s to £3 7s fid; heifers 37s to £2 ;8s; bulls, £4s to £7 10s; Mr P. Surrey's pedigree Jerseys £9 to All Ss. JOHNSONVILLE. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Johsonville sale as follows.—A small yarding of cattle came forward, but a heavy one of sheep. Prices were as follows: Extra heavy wethers, 28s; extra heavy ewes, 255; prime heavy wethers, 24s to 24s 4dprime wethers, 23s 2d; light wethers £1 • prime ewes, 22s to 22s 6d; light ewes' 17s 3d to 18s fid to £1; prime lambs los to los 4d; good lambs, 14s to 14s «s; plain, 13s 0(1; prime bullocks, £l2 16s to £l3 17s Od; lighter £l2. ADDINGTON. Store sheep.—Good sound mouth woolly ewes and lambs, to 14s; (all counted); fairly forward shorn four-tooth wethers, 16s Od; medium'shorn fourtooth wethers, 15s; fair shorn ewe hoggets, to 15s; two and four-tooth shorn dry ewes, 15s; medium four-tooth wethers, lis to lis lid; the sales included the following lines:—Wethers ,20s 0d; four-tooth shorn, at 6s Od; 41 two-tooth at lis; 130 two-tooth at 1:1,8 lid; ewes and lambs (all counted), 167 soundmouth woolly owes and 183 lambs at 14s; 8 shorn ewes and 11 lambs at 13s 3d; ewes, eighteen shorn two-tooth at 15s; 15 shorn two and four-tooth at 15s. Fat lambs.—There was an entry of 319 fat lambs, as compared with 343 last week, but a few pens were on the light side. There was a good demand and prices were rather firmer than last week. The range of prices was: Best lambs, 19s 6d to 21s 3d; lighter, 18s Id to 19s.
