CLERGYMAN'S KNUCKLES KAPPED. BY PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. At the Presbyterian Assembly this afternoon, the Kev. P. B. Fraser was called on to substantiate the charge that the theology taught by Profossor Dickie, and the theology recommended by him, were subversive of the fundamental truth of the Church. Rev. Fraser made a lengthy speech in support of his charge. He produced a document written by a student under Professor [Dickie, but was refused permission to read it until he gave the name of the author, which he declined j Ito do. ! j j The Assembly passed the following i motion: "This Assembly affirms that P. B. Fraser signallv failed to substantiate his .assertion t'lat Professor Dickie's teaching was subversive to I the faith of the Church, and appoints a ] committee to ■•sirider and report aa to the effect to be given to the finding of ' the Assembly, in view of all the circumstances." The Assembly also passed a motion—"That, in view of Rev. Fraser's failure to substantiate the charges, it expresses regret and displeasure that the Rev. Fraser should, without justifica- ■ tion, asperse the theological soundness j of an honored teacher, and disturb the j peace of the Church." The Assembly enjoined him to refrain from such a course, and to pursue the paths that make for peace and edification of the J Church. The /Assembly also expressed entire [confidence in Professor Dickie. Rev. Fraser said the Assembly had Ino power to compel him to close his 'mouth.
