AN OLD MAN'S SUICIDE. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Thames, November 23. William Madden, aged 70, who cut his throat in the hotel where he was employed as cook, has succumbed to his injuries. He came from Auckland and had been in ill-health. The wound itself was not serious, but Ilia general health militated against recovery. ' At the inquest the verdict was that his suicide was due to mental derangement. FOUND DROWNED. Westport, November 23. The body of Patrick M'Cran or M'Cann, who disappeared from Murchison on October 20, has been found in the Buller River at Westport. At the inquest the jury returned a verdict of found drowned, and added that there was no evidence to show how the body got into the river.
