HIGH COMMISSIONERS REPORT. Wellington, Last Night. The High Commissioner reports: London, November 19. The General commanding the force operating on the Shatt-el-Arab, on the Persian Gulf, reports that an advance was made on the 17th November, nine miles up the right bank of the river. Our troops encountered 4500 of the enemy in a strongly entrenched position, with 12 guns. After overcoming a determined resistance, and turning his left flank, we carried the entrenchments. The enemy retired, losing two guns, many prisoners, animal transport, and reserve ammunition. Our casualties were:— Killed: Three officers and 35 men. Wounded 15 officers and 300 men.

GERMANS WEAKENING ON THE YSER, Wellington, Last Night. The High Commissioner reports: London, November 19. The German hold on the Yser is weakening.
