From Our Own Correspondent. Mr J. A). Campbell, the poputar stationmastcr here, who lias not enjoyed the best of health for Home time past, lias been transferred to Palmerston North. Air Beattie is his succissor. -Mr Frank Mullen, of t'.m firm of Mullen and Marshall, left on Saturday iiii.niiiif; for Wellington, where he intends to reside for the future. Mr Mullen, during the time he lias been m .Stratford, has always taken a Iccen interest in the affairs of the town, and his departure will be regretted bv the large number of his friends. Mr" Marshall still continues in file business. 1 regret to record the death of Mrs C. E. Smith, of Beaconslield Road, .\lid'liirst, iirs Smith has not been in the best of lieaith for some time past, and last week went into a private hospital, 'and was operated on last Monday for an internal eon:plaint. The operati m was quite satisfactory, and the patient was progressing rapidly when complications set in and it was deemed advisable till the patient <liould u:k'ct»') a further .operation, ".his was pnioinicd on t'ihb.y morning, :iut the patent died under the anaesthetic. Mr >mi';'i, and the young children who are left will lave the ikepe.it sympathy in their tad bereavement. An inquest was held, and •i verdict returned in aecoidaii';e with 'the medical evidence.
