GERMANY ADMITS THE WARSAW DEFEAT. Petrograd, November 12. The German staff excuses the defeat at Warsaw by blaming the difficult roads. The staff is really trying to cover the Crown Prince's failure in the centre, which was driven back headlong, while the wings held their ground, causing a general retreat. There is re< ncwed evidence of Austro-German friction, principally because the Austrians are compelled to fight in the rearguard, covering the Germans' retreat. The man jority of the casualties in the recent engagements in Poland were among the Austrians. Austrian prisoners are more friendly towards their captors than towards the German prisoners.
Official: The Russians in East Prussia have approached the eastern outlets of the Masurian Lakes. There have been engagements favorable to our arms at Goldap, Olava, and Soldau, Our vigorous offensive in Galicift continues.
Official: An engagement has developed on the front, Stalluponen to Kruglinnen, and the region of Soldau. The Russians have occupied Johannisburg. The enemy's advanced guards aTe endeavoring to make headway in the Kaliaz district. The Russians are attacking the Austrian rearguard on the fords of the Upper San. ,
