RE LIME DEPOSIT'S.

I am much afraid that your correspondent, whoever lie is, lias got hold of t'ne wrong end of the stick, and with your hind penruiissiuii, will point ont briefly where he is in error In the first instance, lie is quite correct about tile discovery but t-'iiin line deposit is situated close to Toko, practically right oil ttle railway line, and ito position would be difficult to beat as a distributing centre. .In t'ite second instance, a company is being formed for working same, and is meeting 1 with excellent results. An analysis of the lime has lietn made by the New Zealand Government Analyst,, and proved equal 10, if .uot better than, any other lime i» tie Dominion. This limns is supplied to 'the State farm, and has given every fcatUfaction. The supply is illimitable, ind it can be worked most, economically, enabling the farmers of Taranaki to obtain it in any quantity at the. lowest minimum price, 'i'his is the only company in course of formation 'in .the Stratford county at the present juncture, and the idea prevailing generally is ithat it will, when formed, prove a„ boon to the farmers and a profitable investment, Evidently your correspondent. is not weli acquainted with the site of the present Toko lime work» when ho talks about the cxpe'nte of carting, double handling, etc., as it could not be placed in a more favorable position as regards tho construction of a railway siding.—l am, etc., "SCRUTATOR."
