INGLEWOOD NEWS.
(From Our- own Correspondent). The firebell rang out last night at about 6.30, and tin- brigade was promptly on the scene of fire, which proved to be only a chimney blaze. A large number of friends assembled in Mr. Stewart Huston's billiard-room last night to bid fareweil to Inglewood's quota of reinforcements lor the front. The. men are: C. lVterson, 11. ftusling, C. lieid. I). Pegg, G. Xieholls, S. Hopson and T. Peaking. Mr. Stewart Huston kindly gave the use of his rooms and four billiard tables fr«e to everyone for the occasion. During the evening Mr. O. M. Boldt, in a short speech, asked those present to drink the health of "The boys for tha front," which wan done with musical honors and hearty cheers. Mr. T. K. Hamcrton also addressed those who were going to the front, and in bidding them farewell and God fpeed, asked them to remember that they were from Taranaki, and if they kept up the reputation and traditions of the early settlers they would not go far wrong, even under modern war conditions. Mr. €. llei.l responded on behalf of his mates. The remainder of the evening was given over to billiards, songs and cards, when "Oorl Save the King" brought the proceedings to a <oose. The boys left by mail train this morning and received a hearty sendoff by the large crowd assembled on the platform. - eo/io/M.'
