An echo of the Brisbane tramway strike was heard in the High Court, which, upheld tho application of the Brisbane and Adelaide Tramway Companies for a prohibition against the enforcement oi Mr. Justice Higgins' award in the tramway cases. The chief ground of application was that the dispute did. not extend beyond one State, that the ordering of preference to unionists and the providing of boards of reference in the award went beyond the powers of the Arbitration Court. Tha tramway associations in the various States are greatly disappointed at the result, as it means that the whole fruits of the award have been lost.
