NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The New Zealand golf championship meeting was commenced at tile Middlemore links to-day, when the first and second rounds of Dhe open ohajivpionshij} were played. Tne weather was ideal for play when tihe first pair slartca shortly after nine o'clock, hut towards eleven o'clock the wind increased and brought rain, which continued to fall in driving shower* for about two hours, The greens had been fait for the past week, and low scoring re-sultwd in practice, but to-day's rain changed conditions, and upset form. THE LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. Duncdin, Last Night. At the ladies' golf championship today, a team of nine South Island ladies defeated the North Island as follows, the North Island names being mentioned first:—
