Short, Assistant Under-Secre-tary _ of Public Works, sat as a, commission to allocate the cost of construction of tho causeway at Sumner to minimise 'the danger of rocks from the cliffs, tho parties being tha OliTisteJiurch Tramway Board and the Sumner liarough Council. Th e Commissioner hear 1 evidence, and will make an award at! a future date.
