London, October 12. Offieial. —A further lengthy report has been received from the general headquarters staff, describing the country where the British are fighting along the river. The Admiralty has issued an official description of the action between the Carmania and the Cape Trafalgar on September 14, when the latter was sunk. Paris reports that the Allies have held their positions everywhere. Between Arras and the Oise the enemy made a vigorous attack on the right bank of the Aisne without progress. Between the Oise and Rhcims the Allies made progress north of the Aisne, especially near Soissons. A night attack by the enemy between Oraonne and Rheims was repulsed. Nothing is doing from Khcims to the Meuse. The Germans violently attacked in Apremont, east of St. Miniel. Apremont was taken and retaken, but is now held by the Allies. On the left wing the German cavalry seized passages on the Lys, east of Aire, but were driven off yesterday. The Germans dropped bombs in Paris on Sunday, and there were geveral fatalities.
