The following reporis will be considered by 'the Borough Council at its meeting to-night:—
ELECTRICS LIGHT COMMITTEE
That the tender of Messrs Tolley ami Son, Ltd., for Contract No. 11 sub-3ta-tion switchgear -be accepted.
That the recommendation of the electrical engineer contained in his letter of 7till with reference to the acceptance of a. ksider for (iGOO volt, switchboard bo referred to the chairman, with jpower to act. That the electrical engineer be instructed to 'obtain prices for 300 motors and that his action in purchasing 49 meters 'be confirmed.
That the Mangorei Dairy Factory Company be informed that after the new transmission line 'has been constructed tlio Council will be prepared to make. Hie necessary extension of flu: main,? and to supply current to tli-.; Smart Road creamery on the us ul terms . IWOIUvS COMMITTEE.
Mr A. Standish wa.s informed that the Council will be prepared to favorably consider his request to open up Waterloo road when the Government, has definitely decided to purchase and subdivide part section. 22, Kitzroy district, for the purpose of building workmen's 'homes. 'Mr R. C. Hughes and others were inforcned that the 'proposed improvements in Vivian street cunnot be carried wit until the proposed work in Carriiigton road has bem completed. A sub-committee, consisting of His Worship the Mayor, Crs. Johnstone vmd Kibby, were appointed to wait upon lhe Harfoor 'Board with reference to tiie supply of the borough water to the breakwater.
Permission was granted to the Tarar.aki County Council to 'crush uiotal m Tarahua road, provided that, thev put the road in good repair to the satisfaction of tile borough engineer as s«on as the'work is finished', and also that they •'indemnify the Borough Council against all claims that may be ma do in conn'ction with such county work or incidental thereto, the permission granted to 'be revocable at the will of the Borough Council. Mr 1). Charteris was informed that as the borough inspector di'mics Ihe allegations contained in Mr Charters' letter of the 21st inst., this Council must leave 'him to take* such action as he deems fit. The circular letteir from Mr 11. F. Twigdni, referring to civic responsibility for volunteers' dependents, was received.

RESERVES OOMMITTBK. That) this committee rcootamends that the piece of ground in front of the Terminus Hotel be enclosed with a rustic stone wall without rails, and that the matter be left in the hands of the chairman and the borough engineer. That cottages Nos. 1 and 2 be put irto repair according to schedule supplied by Messrs (Wallath Bros., at an estimated cost of £3!) 13s fid.
That the necessary steps be taken to acquire the freehold of section 15, Ilenui, under Ilhc Public Works Act, as recommended iby the borough solicitors.
That Mr A. K. Standish be informed that this Council cannot see its way to make any reductions in the ground rent charged, for cottages on the beasfc.
That the fender of Messrs Nippert and Co. (£25) for painting the Town Hall in accordance witli the borough engineer's specifications be accepted.
BATHS COMMITTEE. That in vitiw of the small amount of revenue being received, this committee is of the opinion that no extensive alterations to the baths should be undertaken until such time, that tliei finances warrant such, but that in the meantime tenders ba called: for the painting of the inside of the living rorais. That Ijie borough engineer be asked to submit an ttslimaie of the cost of eouir pleting the cement work in front of 'the Batli buildings'. BOROI'GII ENGINEER'S HEI'OKT.
The borough engineer reports:—
Streets.—The weather for the last four weeks has been fine, and a considerable amount of street works has been carried out. Four hundred cubic yards of boulders have been taken from the river and delivered at the crusher site. Five hundred cubic yards of metal have been used in repairing streets and roads. Footpaths.—Several footpaths and walks have been cleaned and repaired. Building Permits. —Five permits were issued, representing a total cost of £2400.
Waterworks. —The caretaker reports that the filters are working satisfactorily. The automatic float alarm has been set in position and is working satisfactorily.
Loan Work.—Watson street formation is progressing satisfactorily, -and the metalling is partly done. Holison street is ready for countersinking. Fitzroy road formation is progressing satisfactorily. Mijngorei road formation sms been commenced.. Cutlield road formation is progressing satisfactorily, and the work of excavating the foundation of the culvert lias been commenced. Powderliam Street Culvert. Both walls arc now complete and securely anchored by cross ties from wall to wall. The posts and rails on the northern side are erected and only ic<]iiire to be fitted with caps on the posts to complete t'ne work.
ELECTRICAIi ENGINEER'S • REPORT.
Ahe electrical engineer reports:—
During the past six months one hundred and five new consumers have been addd, making a total of 1403. ■Mr E. Parry, chief electrical engineer for the Public Works Department, was in Xew Plymouth on September 22, when lie visited the works at Mangorei and inspected the transmission and distribution lines connected with our supply. The maximum load recorded at the power "house during the past month was -270 kilowatts.
