DISTRICT NEWS.
NORMANBY. (From our own correspondent). I, on behalf of tho residents, tender your our heartfelt thanks for your enterprise in delivering our paper at such an early hour. Your paper is now the beßt advertising modium in Taranaki, and long may it'continue so, as such enterprise deserves encouragement. , We, like other parts, require rain a little more frequently. This is the driest season we have had for the past twenty ( years, yet the grass is fairly good, and our cows are looking well. We have had our annual election for the Town Board. There were nine candidates for the five positions. The selection is, on tho whole, a good one, and with Mr Free as chairman, there is 'hope for Xormanby yet. That witer and drainage must come .has been recognised by the Health De- ' partiuent, and one wonders why tiie residents do not see that a little extra rates would give the place and property a push along that's badly required. From its natural position, Normanby should progress. One matter we aro proud of is the number of marriages recently celebrated, some being double events. Others ara aoon to follow, liia ora to them all. .
