CONCILIATION COUNCIL
BITTING AT NEW PLYMOUTH. HOTEL AND RESTAURANT EMPLOYEES' DISPUTE. A sitting of the Conciliation Council was opened at the Town Hall yesterday morning under the presidency of tne Commissioner, Mr T. Ilarle Giles, and the following assessors:—For the employers: Messrs J. 11. Pagni (Auckland); E. Whittle (New Plymouth), and A. Coleman Stratford). For the Union; Messrs Thos. Long (Auckland) Secretary of the Union, F. Young (Auckland), president and S. Pascoe (_\ T ew Plymouth). The dispute was filed by the Auckland Hotel and Restaurant Employees' Industrial Union of Workers (Taranaki Branch), and the parties to the dispute have submitted proposals and counterproposals which are being considered. Mutual agreements were yesterday arrived at in respect of several of the claims, and there appears to be every prospect of a settlement being arrived at, but the disputed claims are still under considI oration.
