Wheat.—Further decline owing to continued weakness and America's increased pressure to sell; 43s is asked for Westralian arrived. The wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,800,000 quarters, for the Continent 1,800,000 quarters, Atlantic shipments 244,000 quarters, Pacific 32,000 quarters. The total shipments to Europe this week were 1,220,000 quart ers,-including India 69,000 quarters, other countries ail.

HAWERA HORSE FAIR. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., commenced their annual spring horse fair on Thursday. Over 750 horses were catalogued. On the first dniv principally heavy horses were offered, and taken all round tbsy were a superior lot, although they were rather lighter than previous yeare. Buyers were plentiful, and a large number of horses will be taken out of the district, the majority going to Auckland, Waikato and Oamaru. Very satisfactory prices were ruling, and practically all horses of good quality were disposed of. A good line of draughts, on account of Mr. J. Shaw, Timaru, sold well. Shatters brought from £36 to £46; leaders, £29 to £35. An unbroken draught Ally on account of Mr A. T. Wills made £35 ss. A line of workers on account of Mr J. R. Corrigan sold from £27 to £36 10s; a lino of useful milk-carters on account of Mr W. M. Crabb realised from £25 to £3O; some unbroken half-draughts on account of Mr J. F. Stevenson brought from £lB to £22 10s; an unbroken filly on account of Mr E. J. Betts was knocked down at £27 ss; lighter sorts, £lO 10s to £2l 10s. A large number of odd horses on account of various vendors realised high prices
