WALKING THE WORLD.
A VLSI TOR TO NEW PLYMOUTH. Maurice Yaucam, who started from Vancouver on August 2ft, 11)11, to walk round the world, called at the Daih .News office last night. He told of his walk through Ganaxhv, and back across the United Status, Mexico, Central America and South America, right round Australia and Tasmania, and through both the islands of New Zealand, arriving at New Plymouth at about ft o'clock Inst night from Stratford. He leaves 4;or Auckland to-night, stud catches Monday's fctoamer for Sydney, en route .to Africa, Europe and Asia. * The jouvnew through Africa will occupy H months, over a march of 10,000 'miles. _The actual distance walked to date is £O,SSS miles, o;it of an estimated jou"of -43,000 miles. The tour was undertaken as the result of a wager. Mr. Vaucam- -left home in a paper suit, without money, ami must return home with £2OOO. Belling anything is prohibited, rior must ho work, but lectures are permitted, and voluntary contributions. 'The money part of the bargain, as well •as the tour, is well ahead of schedule. The only real mishap so far was an attack of onteric fever when wossinw the Australian desert owing to drinking bad water. As proof of his travels <MV. Vaucam lias a most interesting collection of date, stomps and civic seals.
