Antwerp, September 21. The possibility of a siege still looms before Antwerp. The Germans are bringing siege guns with a range of seventeen miles. Antwerp is provisioned for a year. Three thousand American cattle have been arriving' for six weeks. News of German reverses in France filtered through to the Germans in Brussels. The military governor lias threatened to shoot all in possession of English or Belgian newspapers. Only German newspapers or Dutch papers pronouncedly ipro-tiermau are authorised. The Daily Chronicle's Antwerp correspondent reports that the Germans made three desperate but unsuccessful attempts on Saturday and Sunday to capture Fort Wallhem, between Malines and Brussels. On the first night operations with the heaviest artillery covered an infantry attack upon tlm entrenched Belgians. For a short while the issue was doubtful, but when the defenders of the fort realised the danger they devastated the German lines, and tlio attack was finally repulsed with the loss |of 1000 men.
