At pre--sent the roads southward of Jntersburg have been converted into a morass by the passage of Germans. lie states that the new Krupp Howitz■rs, which killed General SamsonofF, are manned and fired by Krupp's. own experts. Tlie Germans are feverishly strengthening Thorn, Kuln, and Grandeuz. They have re-arranged the whole country, destroying hundreds of villages, farmhouses, and bridges.
The Russians are now face to face .with a march across country bare of life.
