Mr. Royd Garliok, director of physical training, was in JNew Plymouth yesterday, making arrangements for the teachers' instructional classes.

The death occurred' suddenly at TauTanga on Sunday, f™m heart failure, of Mr. Edward Samuel, aged sixty-four. Deceased was founder iof the Wairaraipa Daily Times with Mr Joseph Payton, in 1879, and was one of the early directors of the New Zealand Times (states a Press Association message). Captain W. C. 'Morrison, N.Z.5.0., officer in. charge of No. 6 Group (PaJmerston), and formerly in command otf the old ITawcira Mounted Rifles, now incorporated in the Territorials, has been appointed General Staff Officer for the 'Wellington Aiuiiary district, vice Miajor A. 0. Tenyperly, who leaves wiih the expeditionary force.
