~. Eom e. August 31. Viennese official reports . state that the Russians in immense force are devastatlng the whole region from the Vistula to tile Dniester, over a front of 200 miles.

Received 31, 11.50 p.m. St. Petersburg, August 31. It is officially reported tihat fresh troops have appeared on the Prussian frontier, taking the offensive in some places.
The combat southwards of Lublin is being carried on with unabated fury. The fighting near Tornaeheff is particularly stubborn. The Russians captured many prisoners, gurus,'quickfirers, and a flag.

Six officers arid 60 sailors of the cruiser Magdeburg have arrived. ■ j A great battle is in progress in the southern districts of Lublin and Khalm (Poland). A magnificent' Russian bayonet charge practically annihilated the 11th Honvoe Regiment. Reports from the White Sea state that all the German vessels found there at the outbreak of the war were set on fire and sunk and the crews imprisoned.
The Russian advance in Prussia continues. Fighting has occurred between the Russians and the garrisons at Thorn and Graudeny. The Russians took prisoners 3000 Austrians east of Lemberg, also 1000 north of Tomas'hew. The 15th Hungarian division was surrounded east of Tonuwhew, the entire regiments surrendering.
