ENTERTAINMENTS.
THE SMART SET. The sitiovc popular costume comedy company, under the direction of Mr. Edward Branseombe, will commence a season of two nights at the Theatre Royal, opening on Monday next. Local playgoers will remember this unique and talented combination on their last visit. Since then tlhey have been taken over by Mr. Branseombe, who has added considerably to the list of artists, rehabilitated the repertoire, with the latest .gems direct from England and America, comprising the most popular "rags," tango dances, burlesques, etc., and who now presents the Smart Set with the fullest confidence that their appearance in New Plymouth will be long remembered by local playgoers. Mr. Walter George, and Miss Georgie Martin are still "with the company, and have a new budget of duets and sketches to present." Amongst other new artists is Mr. Harry Do Bobeck, whose success in Australia under the Branseombe management lias been phenomenal. Coming from the leading London music halls with a very big reputation, big things have been expected of him, and these expectations have been more than fulfilled. Mention may be made also of the following clever and brilliant,artists who are to appear: Air. Ernest "Parkes, baritone; Miss Gwennybh Evans, contralto; Mr. Maiirice Jones, tenor; Miss Lalla Knight, soprano; and Mr. Bdgar Hulland, solo pianist and accompanist. The box plan is at Collier's, where seats may -be reserved without extra charge, and the prices are 3s, 2s, and Is.
