TARANAKI PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE The ordinary monthly meeting of tho Taranaki Executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held at ffawcra on Thursday, when there were present: Messrs A. Hunter (.presiden't), E. Maxwell, A. E. Washer. R. Umbie, .1. S. Harrow. H. IT. Buxton, R. Dunn. F Mills, ,f. Thomson, d. Swindlchurst and J. Davidson. WAR FUND. On the motion of Mr .Maxwell, seconded by Mr Washer, the following resolution was carried, viz.: "That the Taranaki Farmers' Union executive strongly urge on all sections of the community to guard against misdirected benevolence, and to concentrate all their means in the direction of the establishment and maintenance of a fund for (later when need arisesj, (1) relieving genuine distress of relatives of those who have gone to the front, (2) and providing for or assisting those who maj return unfitted for making their own living." ■DOMINION CONFIDENCE. 'Messrs Dunn and Maxwell, delegates to tho'Dominion.conference, reported on the work of tho conference. • They stated that the work had been of a most satisfactory kind. The Taranaki remits had been very favorably received. The remits dealing with land tax, speviug cows, stallion bill, and cow-testing, which were from Taranaki, had all .been passed. ii) referring to the order paper, Mr MaxweM Faitt that in some vespects it was unsatisfactory. When remits of a similar character were sent from ditler>.nt executives it was the custom to lump them into one, and the-,- found that the result evolved wan not satisfactory to anyone, lie thought that an intermediary coni'orenco should be held —;one in the South Island and one in the North Island —prior to the Dominion conference. These conferences would deal with matters that did not necessarily need to be dealt with by tho Dominion conference, and would result in a ereat savin;.' of time at the Dominion conference. The secretary was instructed to write to the branches for their opinion on tlie suggestion for an intermediary eonferencc.
