Invercargill, Last Night, i At the Police Court to-day, an anparently young man, with' a long beard, named Werner Tobin, vrus charged with on August .10, at Fort Rose, carrying loaded firearms to the common aimo>" ance of liis _ Majesty's subjects. Accused, who is a German, and who resided on the banks of the Mataura River, was in the habit of carrying a repeater rille about with him, with which ho said he was going to shoot British- [ era. Two constables, had been sent out to the district, and had kept a watch over the accused's hut all night, j-his morning, when he came outside, tlicy arrested him. On going into the hut, the police found a double-barrel-led breach-loading gun. which was loaded, and a rifle. There was f.lso the relating rifle, which the defendant carried with him in the daytime when lie went to work jn the bush. At this .stage the accused adopted an aggressive ntiitude. The Magistrate adjourned the case tor seven days.
