A SUGGESTION.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—Now that this district is considering the best way of .assisting the Empire in the war, and seeing that suliscriptions have been given by private 'citizens and local organisations—notably the New Plymouth Fire Brigade, who are to be highly commended for their spontaneous patriotism in contributing £SO towards the funds—l would suggest that a deputation of gentlemen from the committee appointed at the meeting on Saturday night respectfully wait on the Citizens' Band Committee, who have about £IOOO raised for. band purposes, with a request for a donation from that fund, say of £IOO towards the Patriotic Fund., I feel assured that if they did give that amount, no one would adversely criticise their action.— I am, etc., J. R. HILL.
