. NEW ZEALAND DAIRY PRODUCE. TO ASSIST THE DISTRESSED. t A TIKORANGI PROPOSAL. While the matter of assisting the (patriotic fund was under discussion at 'the Tikorangi Dairy Company's meeting 'yesterday, the secretary (Mr. Jas. rime) stated that there wag no doubt that they were up against a crisis. Flagwagging was all right, but that was not sufficient—deeds were required. He had vheard it said that this war would be ■an advantage to New Zealand dairymen % giving them boom prices. Personally, 'he hoped it would not be. It would Only be through the protection of the .Home Navy if they got their butter (on the market. He was prepared to go .(further, and hoped that the producers 'Of New Zealand would bind together »nd whole output consigned .to the Imperial Government at a fair iprice, not at an exorbitant price, so as tto relieve cases of distress. If possible, he would get the whole cheese and butjter output ,to the people in want. Ohildaen. were starving. * Soon there wpuid ■be terrible distress; widows and children would be fatherless; and if their .Jroduco went Home on consignment un«lcr the protective might of; the Navy it would hot be for the consumption of Sshe poor and needy, but for consumption among the wealthy, who could afford to pay big prices. Personally; although; only, a poor man himself, he .hoped they would gain no advantage of prices in this way.
