ON THE SEA
NAVAL BATTLE DENIED. BY THE ADMIRALTY. London, August 9. Some newspaper republished the story of the great naval battle and the sinking of nineteen German ships. Mr. McKenna strongly protested in the House of Commons at the publication of false news to promote circular tion. There is intense anxiety for definite news from the North Sea. : Mr. Churchill said there had been no British loss except the Amphion, and no fighting except the sinking of the Koe»igin Luise. BRESLAU AND GOEBEN. London, August 9. It is reported from Rome that the officers and crew of the Goeben and Bveslau left their wills and property with the German Consulate at Messina. The crews dressed the vessels and with bands playing the National Anthem proceeded. There are 1100 men aboard the Goeben. Rome, August 9. Semaphore messages from the south coast report that the Goeben and Breslau are steaming up the Adriatic.
