FATAL FIRE.
INQUEST AT BLUFF. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. The inquest on "the remains of th<three victims of the Club Hotel fire was 'held at Bluff on Saturday. The evidence of John Kerrigan, the licensee i showed that all was safe when he retired at 11.40. The electric light was m perfect order, and there was no si->n of fire. A little later he was awakened oy Ins wife, and made a si-arch; but could not find any fire, but a little lat'-r lie saw signs of smoke in the passageway. All the inmates were accounted for except three.
James Torrance, a medical practitioner, deposed to examining three seriarate remains of human bodies. One parcel of bones appeared to be, tlhe !P mains of a heavier man than the others presumably of Butcher. He knew But-' cher but had never seen Brook to Is knowledge.
