ACCUSED MAN CONFESSES. By Telegrapii—Press Association. I'almerston N., July 21. In the Police Court a young man, named John Mason, who was recently arrested on a charge of wilfully placing an obstruction on the railway near Awapuni, pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentenci;. In a voluntary written statement accused said lie had been to town, had drinks, went to the pictures, and returned home with liquor in his possession. He placed two pieces of timber across the rails. He did it "for a joke, to knock somebody over."
