TRAMWAY ACCIDENT. By Telegrupa —Press Association. 'Auckland. Last Night. While attempting to board a car In motion at Newmarket 011 Saturday night, Alfred Langwell, aged 35 years, slipped under the car and had his riglit foot badly crushed. It was found necessary to amputate 3iis foot. Langwell's cheeks were badly cut, and several of his teeth were knocked out.
ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. Christclvurch, July 20. On Saturday night at Jollie's Pass a laborer, named John Bitson, attempted to cut his throat in a hotel bar, lull was interrupted. There was a footba 1 ! social and the man had been drinking lieavily. He is now out of donger. SUDDEN DEATH TX CHURCH. Christehurch, July iVi. Henry Lane, aged 45, a carpcm \ dropped dead in church yesterday v.u singing a hymn.
PECULIAR AFEATR. Gisbome, July 20. Fred. Hansen, a settler at Motu, was carrying a pea-rifle which had been taken to pieces and wrapped in an overcoat. On dismounting from his horse lie threw the parcel containing the pea-rifltj 011 the verandah. The bullet discharged itself, and the bullet entered the left nide of his abdomen. He was brought in to the hospital.
