GERMAN SHIPS COMPETE.
INTERCOLONIAL SERVICES WILL f er. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Huddart-Parker Co., agents for tlio German-Australian line in New Zealand, have been advised that this season's consignments of dried fruits from the Mediterranean will be delivered by a German-Australian steamer at the ports of Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton and Duncdin, instead of being transhipped at Sydney and Melbourne for North Island and South Maud ports respectively. So far as Wellington alone is concerned, this will mean between 700 and 800 tons of fruit. It is anticipated tliat this competition will be felt seriously by the inter-colonial shipping, which hitherto lias been picking up transhipments for New Zealand at 'Melbourne or Sydney.
